Monday 20 - Dr Sketchy - 7pm
Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School offers up monthly life drawing classes, with a twist. Instead of tasteful nudes who don't move, each month the gang at Dr Sketchy's line up a different set of performers, and a different theme. They're going to be taking over the Clubhouse for one-night-only, so bring down your graphite and paper and get anti-arty. Tuesday 21 - Not Fight Club - 5.30pm Feeling like you're pulling too many late nights, not enough punches? Then join us at the Clubhouse for a brief introduction to stage combat. In this workshop, going over two weeks, we'll cover the basics of pushing, slapping, punching, and kicking your fellow actors without hurting them (or breaking the furniture). Violence! The safe way. James Kiesel is a certified Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, and has trained with many of the finest fight masters in the United States, including J Allen Suddeth, David Brimmer, and Ian Rose. He is a core member of the 95 Runagates, Philadelphia's only fight-based ensemble theater company, and is also the questionable artistic mind behind GDP Productions, creator of Skindiana Jones and the upcoming Study in Pink (A Sherlock Holmes Burlesque). 2 x 2 hour sessions, $10 per session. Register interest through the Contacts page or email [email protected]. Thursday 23 - Speed Debating - 6pm Everyone's heard of Speed Dating, but we decided that it's been done. So at the Clubhouse, we'll be offering the new and exciting sensation, Speed Debating. We made it up, so it's gotta be good. Engage in stimulating conversation with a complete stranger or argue all those pressing points with you besties while still managing to avoid passive aggressiveness. Oh! And we've got all the Raglan Roast Coffee you'll need to keep yourself agitated, on edge and ready to argue your point, whether you're right or not. Music accompaniment from Hayden Maskell and Tori Reed. Register interest through the Contacts page, or email us at [email protected]. Saturday 25 - Photo Shoot - 10am - 6pm Moving on from our original idea, we here at Vaudeville Inc. have decided to pimp out our Clubhouse to you this fine Saturday. We will be running 8 sessions from 10am to 6pm at $20 per session. We will have lights, models, props, and passion... This will be a great chance to either get in some time taking photos for a portfolio, for fun, or for experience. Check out our Contacts page or email [email protected] to register your interest and book a time, or to get more information. Otherwise, head to our Facebook, Vaudeville Inc. Sunday 26 - Craft for Charity - 4pm Come on down to the Clubhouse for a delightfully crafty Sunday afternoon Hosted by Zemi Costuming and Design. Bring in your chosen crafty bits and join us for a right old stitch 'n' bitch! Or, if you're a little lost for inspiration, come in and crochet a square for a charity blanket to help a good cause. If you didn't do all you wanted the week before, just pop your head in. We'll be supporting Little Sprouts, an awesomely good cause. Tuesday 28 - Not Fight Club Mach II - 5.30pm Feeling like you're pulling too many late nights, not enough punches? Then join us at the Clubhouse for a brief introduction to stage combat. In this workshop, going over two weeks, we'll cover the basics of pushing, slapping, punching, and kicking your fellow actors without hurting them (or breaking the furniture). Violence! The safe way. Wednesday 29 - Song Sale - 6.30pm Come see some of Wellington's finest and most adaptable musicians take to the stage for a gig like no other. You set the songs. Pick a genre, pick a topic, pick the musician. You set the rules, they make the song. And if that wasn't enough delight for one brain to handle, we've also got a poetry slam, and an open mic. Come hear cool people do odd things with words. Or odd people do cool things with words. Thursday 30 - The Playhouse - 6.30pm There is a common notion that people study theatre because it's easy. Learn some lines, and bluff your way through the rest. At the Playhouse, we plan to prove that wrong. Come along and see the hard work that our future famous players have been putting in over the course of their study year. We've got a regular chocolate box of short and sweet treats from theatre students across Wellington, not to mention a sneak peek of a new work from an award winning Wellington playwright. Saturday 01 - Hobolesque II And last, and certainly least, we have our for-a-good-cause after-party, Hobolesque Mach II, brought to you in association with the good c*nts at Valhalla. A year ago we shocked audience members, ourselves, and the charity we were collecting for by putting on a stage show that no one else would ever dare to attempt. Now you too can be offended in the best way possible as we present a full-bill of down-on-their-luck Vaudevillains as they shuffle, scuffle, and sing for their supper. Oh, and to alleviate any bad consciences, a generous percentage of the door sales will be donated to the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary. Ticket prices $10. Door sales only. R18.
